This is a very entertaining standalone series opener with an HEA. Camille is an empath who's clairsentience is untrained and unreliable. She has learned to keep her strange ability private, confiding only in her best friend. Then her dinner date walks out on her to take a phone call and doesn't come back. Responding to a call from the restaurant, his brother, Will, gives her a ride home. But while at the restaurant, Camille had picked up on an unexplainable dark and dangerous energy. Something bad is going to happen, she just doesn't know what. Then Will follows up with her, reimbursing her for the cost of the dinner with his brother. He's very handsome, intriguing and seems to run hot and cold toward her, often changing within minutes. Be prepared for a roller coaster of emotions. Complex and easy flowing with vivid descriptions, this novel contains the rocky romance of Billionaire Will with the empath and landscaper Camille, is suspenseful with realistic characters, features the seemlier side of the drug trade, and has a heart warming ending.
I loved this book, it is the first I have read by this author and it sure won't be the last. Contains romance and psychic abilities - two of my favourite genres and written so well, it hooked me in from the start and never let up until I had finished it. Just the first few pages told me I was in for a treat - what a novel way to start a book. Highly recommended.
This book I could not close without reading just one more chapter. Danger was coming at me from all directions. I kept thinking I knew what had happened until they really focused on Laura, Will and Jason's mother. That was a little unexpected. I did not have much hope that Will and Laura had a chance for love, but after everything that happened somehow it all made sense. The plot was ongoing and you will not be disappointed. I look forward to Book 2.
This is my first book by Noelle Greene but will not be my last I am sure.
I enjoyed this story because it kept me on the edge until the end. It has a really good story line. The two main characters have two completely different ways of life. Yet they both have had tragedy, which is what I felt brought them together. There are so many negative events happening during the story that I wasn't sure the direction it was going. Then another big tragedy happens that kept me on edge and I couldn't put the book down. I was glad it had a happy ending. I recommend this book, it was a good read!
This book kept me up way past my bedtime! It is intriguing, suspenseful and romantic and I was unable to tear myself away from it. Camille's intuitive gift has caused her problems in the past and although she managed to keep it under wraps to some extent, it roars into life after a date goes wrong. Meeting the gruff and arrogant Will surprisingly brings her some level of composure. As the book evolves and murder is committed, Camille feels obligated to speak out, only to discover that she becomes the brunt of gossip and is spurned by the small community. However, hiding in plain sight there is a much bigger problem and when Will and Camille stumble into the path of danger, Camille finds herself depending more and more on her gift. I loved the main characters in this story and although Will is reclusive and grumpy, he nevertheless tugs at the heartstrings. Camille may have seemed the more vulnerable of the two, but in many ways, she is, in fact, a whole lot stronger. Although this book is part of a series, it is nevertheless a standalone with a satisfying conclusion. It is a well-written page-turner and once I started, I was unable to put it down.
This was a book that I both enjoyed and struggled with reading. I’m so glad I continued to read it through the epilogue because it really was a good story, just not what I may have thought I ‘wanted to read’.
Will is a very emotionally broken man who has gone through significant struggles in his life. I really struggled with how he treated Camille and at more than one point was ready to stop reading. However, I was completely captivated by Camille and wanted to know what happened to her and how things turned out in her life. While Camille also had a very challenging life, she had a much different outlook and approach to life.
As I stated before this wasn’t an easy or quick read, BUT the authors makes you think, feel and experience some darker elements of life as you read this story. It’s a love story, with suspenseful elements that build and twist into a beautifully written story.
I really liked this book. A few parts could've been expanded upon, however, the author could come back and create stories about those later. I would really look forward to reading more about Camille and Will, as well as other stories that include them. I thought Camille was a great heroine. I liked that she didn't have "drama" about her. She seemed strong emotionally and didn't jump to conclusions. I liked that Will also didn't participate in drama. Sometimes a book will become excessive with back and forth nonsense, especially regarding a couple beginning a relationship, that it just becomes too much. I thought the story was well written and I cannot wait to start on the second book in this series, again, hoping Camille and Will make their appearance. I really recommend this one. )
